Zeroing Checklist
1. Experience: We do not know your level of experience. If you are a beginner or this is your first optic, please let us know.
2. Zero distance: Zero at 25 yards or farther. Your red dot will not work properly when shooting at longer distances if zeroed at 15, 10, or 5 yards. Minimum zero distance is 25 yards for the best accuracy at all reasonable distances.
3. Iron sights: Under no circumstances slave red dots to iron sights, or use iron-sight position to align the red dot or judge loss of zero. These methods are inaccurate.
4. Mount check: Shine a flashlight from the opposite side of the optic. If any light passes underneath, or if the optic is loose in any way, correct the mounting.
5. Laser bore-sight test: If you have a laser bore sight, zero the reticle to the laser bore at 25 yards and (without cycling the slide or barrel) physically rotate or tap the optic with a rubber mallet. Note whether the reticle's location in relation to the laser bore moves during the test or afterward. If you tap on the front right side and the reticle moves left, or vice versa, that indicates shifting of the optic on the slide, regardless of whether the screws are tight.
6. Fasteners: Install the optic with one drop of 242 Loctite on each screw and torque to at least 15 lb-in. Allow at least one hour for curing.
7. Ammunition changes: Switching loads can cause minor shifts in zero. From a bench rest, re-check zero to eliminate shooter movement; even small trigger input can shift point of impact.
