Zeroing Your Optic

  1. Distance:
    • Zero your optic at a minimum distance of 25 yards
    • Zeroing at closer distances (5, 10, or 15 yards) will produce unreliable results at range.
  2. Adjustment Limits: If your optic runs out of windage or elevation adjustment on one pistol, try mounting it on another pistol or simply remove and reinstall it to reset its position.
  3. Iron Sights:
    • Do not "slave" the red dot by aligning it with your iron sights.
    • Do not use iron sights to judge if the optic's zero is correct. These methods are inaccurate.
  4. Mount Security:
    • Shine a flashlight from the opposite side of the optic mount.
    • Verify no light passes underneath.
    • Confirm the optic is completely tight with no movement.
  5. Fasteners:
    • Apply one drop of 242 Loctite to each screw.
    • Torque to at least 18 lb-in
    • Allow a minimum of 24 hours for the Loctite to cure.
  6. Ammunition Change:
    • Switching ammunition loads or brands can cause minor shifts in your zero.
    • Always re-check your zero from a bench rest after changing ammo to confirm your point of impact.

Adjustment References

  • Click-MOA optics: Each click equals 1 MOA (1" at 100 yds; 0.5" at 50 yds; 0.25" at 25 yds).
  • Infinite-MOA or sub-half-MOA optics: Each reference mark represents approximately 6 MOA.

Direction of Adjustment

  • Turning the elevation screw toward UP moves the dot DOWN.
  • Turning the windage screw toward RIGHT moves the dot LEFT.
Adjusting the screw toward UP or RIGHT shifts the bullet's point of impact in that direction. This is an industry-wide standard for all optics.
